Arrangement of temporary bridge crossings and design works are actively progressing in disaster zone

The representatives of Roads Department of Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia and United Water Supply Company have been actively continuing infrastructure liquidation- restoration works damaged as a result of the disaster in Racha for seven days.  

Temporary bridge crossings were set up for off-road vehicles in Mazhieti and Khideshelebi villages yesterday, whereon erection of road collapsible bridges (CAMP) is underway.    

At the same time, 2 design teams are actively working to reinstate damaged road sections.

Works are underway in Oni Municipality to turn the river back to its river-bed and temporary bridges are being set up in order to restore the traffic.

Heavy equipment continue working for reinstatement of road sections damaged and collapsed as a result of the disaster. Traffic has been already restored at Zhamieri village access road for off-road vehicles. After arrangement of temporary bridge crossings at km127, km128 and km129 of Kutaisi-Alpana-Mamisoni pass road, works will proceed at the subsequent section - km131. After reinstatement of that section, works will continue to set up temporary bridge crossings at the bridge, which connects with Shovi and at two collapsed sections.

Traffic has already been restored with 8 villages. Several villages still remain without roadway and works are ongoing in this regard. Communication with several villages is possible through temporary bypass roads.

Rehabilitation of Oni water supply main is at the completion stage. 200 m steel main has already been installed in the locations of difficult terrain, while the Zhizhoreti head works will be completely restored in the shortest time. Besides the damages, water supply to the affected population in Oni municipality is provided regularly through alternative way from the second day of the disaster. 

All disaster affected villages have uninterrupted power supply for three days.

Supply of food-stuffs, medicines and other necessary products by helicopter steadily continues.

Representatives of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure, Roads Department, United Water Supply Company, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Emergency Management Agency and local government continue working in disaster zone.
