Traffic is opened at 19km long Kutaisi Bypass-Samtredia road of East-West Highway. Two new lanes of the highway came on stream. Traffic will be conducted according to the special traffic management scheme: vehicles driving from Tbilisi to the west shall pass through Nakhshirghele interchange up to the km13 of Kutaisi-Samtredia road, wherefrom they will be linked to Geguti interchange via Nikea Street, while through Dapnari interchange, they can continue moving in the direction of Poti-Batumi-Sarpi and Senaki-Zugdidi.

Two traffic lanes on both directions are provided at Geguti-Bashi section, but movement from Bashi to Dapnari is possible only in the west direction with the application of two traffic lanes.

Vehicles coming from the west to Tbilisi shall pass through Kutaisi-Samtredia road, and from km37 of the mentioned road they can continue RHS, and via Bashi Interchange they can connect with Tbilisi direction.

41.3km long Kutaisi Bypass-Samtredia road is divided into 4 lots. After completion of a new road, traffic at Kutaisi-Samtredia section will become unidirectional. Unlike the other sections of the highway, construction of above-referred section is financed from the state budget and the value of the project is about GEL 200,255,000

Widening of the road into a 4-lane highway will significantly improve traffic safety at the upgraded road and ensure a major reduction in road accidents. In addition, as a result of road widening, traffic speed shall be increased and costs shall be minimized.

Construction of new 2 lanes at Kutaisi Bypass-Samtredia road will be completed by the end of 2020
