Two new tunnels have been cut at Ubisa-Shorapani section of Rikoti pass road. The new tunnels with 346.5 meters and 223 meters were cut at the villages of Ubisa and Gantiadi. As part of the project, the construction of bridges and tunnels is continuing along with that. A total of 13 km of roads, 27 bridges and 18 tunnels will be built on the Ubisa-Shorapani section. In total, on the Rikoti Pass Road, construction work is currently underway on 30 tunnels and 39 bridges.

It stands to mention, that the first 180-meter tunnel near the village of Khevi was cut on the Khevi-Ubisa section of the Rikoti Pass Road.

A total of 51.6 km of roads are planned to be built on Rikoti Pass, which will include 96 bridges and 53 tunnels. The construction of the Rikoti Pass section is divided into 4 sections.

Eventually, the Rikoti Pass Road, since the completion of East-West corridor, will reduce the distance by 30 kilometers and halve the travel time. If today, the travel time from the Red Bridge to Sarpi is 8 hours, in the future it will take 4-4.5 hours.
