Roads Department is rehabilitating local streets in the city of Zugdidi by government order. Rehabilitation of 2 streets has already been completed. At the moment, rehabilitation is underway on 5 streets and an additional 5 streets will be rehabilitated this year. Within the framework of the project, a total of GEL 25,338,300 will be spent on the rehabilitation of Zugdidi streets.

It stands to mention, that Roads Department is already preparing a proposal for a government order to rehabilitate damaged streets. Works are planned on 35 streets. The roads on the streets are severely damaged, in fact, there is no pavement, causing pollution during rainless weather and hindering movement in rainy weather. The indicative cost of rehabilitation of 35 streets is up to GEL 23 million. 

As part of the ongoing and planned projects, road infrastructure and drainage systems in Zugdidi will be fully upgraded, junctions, local entrances, entrances to the yards, curbs and sidewalks will be arranged, which will allow the population of Zugdidi to move on renewed and comfortable roads.

Upgrade of the road infrastructure of the central streets, Shota Rustaveli, Sokhumi and Agmashenebeli streets, will be commenced from the second half of June.

As part of the ongoing and planned projects, a total of 47 streets in Zugdidi will be rehabilitated. Rehabilitation of the streets will be completed in stages before year-end.
