Proposals submitted by companies interested in the international tender announced for the reconstruction of the Khulo-Zarzma section of the Batumi (Angisa) -Akhaltsikhe secondary road have been opened. 7 bidders submitted bids. The following steps include selection  and evaluation.

The new tender was announced in 2 parts. The major share of the project will be still funded by the Kuwait Fund, and the 5 km section will be funded by the state budget. Tender proposals for the section financed from the budget will be opened on May 11.

Within the framework of the project, a total of 47 kilometers of roads and 7 bridges will be rehabilitated, 2-lane asphalt-concrete pavement will be constructed.

The renewed Khulo-Zarzma road will connect Samtskhe-Javakheti and Adjara regions with each other in the shortest possible way. The section to be rehabilitated starts from Khulo, passes through Goderdzi Pass and reaches Zarzma village of Adigeni. In the renewed way, the travel time from Batumi to Akhaltsikhe will be reduced by 1.5 hours.

After the implementation of the project, the tourist flow will increase, which will give new opportunities to the local population.
