Roads Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia has decided to terminate a contract with TODINI COSTRUZIONI GENERALI S.p.A.

Despite the fact that TODINI COSTRUZIONI GENERALI S.p.A. had all the conditions to implement the project, the contractor failed to mobilize and carry out the relevant works under the contract. Consequently, a decision was made to terminate the contract with TODINI COSTRUZIONI GENERALI S.p.A.

Thus far, the performance security has been withdrawn. As for the development of the Khulo-Zarzma project, an agreement has been reached with the International Financial Institution and the announcement of a new tender is planned for March.

The rehabilitation-reconstruction of the most densely populated 5km section of the Khulo-Zarma road will be financed from the state budget. The reconstruction of the 42km section divided into two lots will be carried out again with the financial support of the Kuwait Fund and the Government of Georgia.

A contract for rehabilitation-reconstruction of two lots of Khulo-Zarzma section of Batumi (Angisa)-Akhaltsikhe road has been signed between the Roads Department and TODINI COSTRUZIONI GENERALI S.p.A. on 2 August 2018. The company was responsible to complete the project, financed by the Kuwait Fund For Arab Economic Development and worth GEL 110,2 MIO for 1 October 2020.
