Construction works at 15,5 km long section of Akhmeta-Telavi-Bakurtsikhe road (Bakurtsikhe-Gurjaani) continues.
Gurjaani-Bakurtsikhe bypass road will connect Akhmeta-Telavi-Bakurtsikhe secondary road with Tbilisi-Bakurtsikhe-Lagodekhi international road. In not needed, vehicles moving towards Gurjaani- Bakurtsikhe shall be able to avoid passing through the town of Gurjaani and the following villages of Gurjaani municipality: Bakurtsikhe, Kolagi, Dzirkoki, Chandari, Vejini and Chumlaki.
The new road, which is currently narrow and passes through densely populated territory of Vaziani-Bakurtsikhe-Gurjaani, will shorten the road from Telavi to Tbilisi and will ensure safe travel.
Construction works are actively progressing. By now, 6 km of road and 6 bridges are constructed. At the same time, arrangement of structures and earthworks are underway.
The project is financed by the World Bank under the Third Secondary and Local Roads Project (SLRP III) and its value is GEL 38 000 000.
After completion of the project, safety level and quality of Akhmeta-Telavi-Bakurtsikhe road will be improved; travel time and expenses will be reduced significantly.
