On December 10, the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia and Roads Department of Georgia have organized ceremony devoted to Road Engineers professional day.  The tradition of celebration of Road Engineers Day began 52 years ago.

Throughout the ceremony, Roads Department awarded Road Engineers who made a special contribution to the development of road infrastructure. Several companies were also awarded, for successful implementation of infrastructure projects in 2019.

During welcome speech, Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia Maya Tskitishvili congratulated road engineers on their professional day and talked about future challenges. In his presentation, First Deputy Minister, Chairman of Roads Department Irakli Karseladze summarized the results of 2019 and presented the plans for next year.

Construction of three sections of Rikoti Pass road has started in 2019. Contracts were awarded for construction of Kvesheti-Kobi road and 9km tunnel. 208km was constructed on a highway and construction works are ongoing on 142km road in parallel. 800km road was rehabilitated in 2019, which exceeds the results of the previous years in four times.  It is noteworthy, that 1 217 million GEL was paid for the works carried out at this time.

The Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Gakharia, Mayor of Tbilisi city Kakha Kaladze, representatives of legislative and executive government, representatives of the Georgian road sector and other invited guests, attended an event.
