First Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure, Chairman of Roads Department of Georgia, Irakli Karseladze made a presentation of projects implemented in 2019 at the event dedicated to Road Engineers Day.

As Irakli Karseladze noted Roads Department implemented rehabilitation of about 800 km road during the current year. This indicator exceeds almost four times the previous year indicator. Also, 52 bridges were constructed-rehabilitated. Eventually 200 rehabilitation projects have been implemented in 2019. 

Major and important roads such as 26 km long Nichbisi-Didgori-Didi Toneti road was rehabilitated in 2019, which is the shortest route connecting Mtskheta-Mtianeti and Kvemo Kartli; also 26 km long Chrebalo-Nikortsminda connecting road, which was rehabilitated with the financial support of the World Bank  in the value of GEL  18 533 700 and 16 km long Koda-Partskhisi-Manglisi-Tsalka road in the value of GEL 13 795 800.

At the same time, works are actively ongoing in terms of rehabilitation of touristic routes, wherefrom rehabilitation of Khvamli mountain access road in Tsageri is completed, rehabilitation of Okatse Canyon access road and bridges and Kintsvisi-Gverdzineti-Tkemlovani road in Dzama gorge is ongoing and will be completed in 2020. Also Davit Gareji Monastery  access road is under rehabilitation.

Works are actively progressing on 50 km long Dzirula-Kharagauli-Moliti-Pona-Chumateleti road. This road section connects Kharagauli municipality with E-60 highway and will be finalized in 2021.  Works are progressing in Kakheti at 15,5 km long Akhmeta-Telavi-Bakurtsikhe (Gurjaani bypass) road, which will completely unload Gurjaani city from traffic. Construction of the mentioned road will be completed in 2020.

Rehabilitation works are  being carried out on roads, which have never had asphalt-concrete pavements. Rehabilitation works are progressing on 28 km long Tianeti-Akhmeta connecting road  and 21 km long Khornabuji-Erisimedi road.
