Vice Prime Minister of Georgia, Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Maya Tskitishvili, along with the Chairman of Roads Department of Georgia and local authorities got acquainted with the ongoing road projects in Kvemo Kartli.

Rehabilitation of Pantiani-Manglisi road has already been completed with the financial support of the World Bank. Tbilisi (Pantiani)-Manglisi road connects to Koda-Manglisi-Partskhisi-Tsalka-Ninotsminda road and is the shortest route for connecting to Tbilisi. An existed road was severely damaged and obstructed the traffic.

To ensure safe and comfortable movement, a new asphalt-concrete pavement, sidewalks, culverts and enclosed bus stops were arranged within the project. Traffic signs and barriers were developed for improving safety. Marking of the carriageway is completed.

A 16km Koda-Manglisi-Partskhisi-Tsalka-Ninotsminda road has been completely upgraded. Along with the road, sidewalks and entrances to the populations’ yards as well as traffic signs were developed.

“Rehabilitation of 28km road has already been completed in Kvemo Kartli this year. Additional 75km are under capital repair. In the coming year we plan to upgrade 25km. We are pleased to witness radical changes of the situation in the region. Even last year there were sections that were in an out-of- service condition. Today we have tangible results.   Total budget of these projects exceeds GEL 100 million, but what is important to us is that like in other road projects, there are mainly Georgian companies and local people employed here,” said Tskitishvili.

The Minister has also visited Manglisi medical ambulance, which is currently under construction. The project worth over GEL 300 000 is financed from the Fund for the Projects to be Implemented in the Regions. It will serve over 3,000 beneficiaries in Tetritskaro municipality. Construction works will be completed by the end of the year.
