Roads Department has completed rehabilitation of 5km Vaziani-Martkopi-Norio-Gvtaeba secondary road in Gardabani municipality. The works are continuing on the remaining 7km of the mentioned road. The project is divided into two sections and in total, envisages rehabilitation of over 13 kilometers.

The road section to be rehabilitated was severely damaged. At one time, a permanent surface road was completely disrupted and restricted the movement of the road users.   

The project envisages complete rehabilitation of the road. The asphalt-concrete pavement, artificial structures, culverts, ditches, entrances to public yards, junctions to local roads, bus stops and enclosed bus stop are upgraded within the project. The existing bridge is also under rehabilitation. The carriageway will be delineated, traffic signs will be arranged. Marking of rehabilitated section is currently underway. 

Together with locals, the pilgrims of the monastery complex are using Vaziani-Martkopi-Norio-Gvtaeba road. The proper functioning of the road to the monastery is also very important from a tourist point of view. After the completion of the rehabilitation of both sections, access road to Gvtaeba monastery will be safe and comfortable.

The project worth GEL 7 531 227 is state budget funded.

The works were commenced on April 2018 and rehabilitation of the second section will be completed on spring 2020.
