Khashuri Bypass and Kutaisi 4-laned Bypass in 2020

Irakli Karseladze – First Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, Chairman of Roads Department made a speech at the sitting of Regional Policy and Self - Government Committee. He emphasized the projects that will be completed in 2020 and which will significantly improve the country's road infrastructure.

 

Significant progress is achieved at Zemo Osiauri- Chumateleti section. Despite the existing challenges, the construction of 5,8 km section will be completed by the end of the year, while in July 2020, the 13km 4-lane cement-concrete highway will be in Khashuri. Moreover, the construction of the second 18 km section of Samtredia-Grigoleti will be completed in 2020 and the traffic will be free on 14km section, which makes us avoid the most populated area’’ – noted Karseladze. 

 

According to the Chairman of Roads Department, the construction of a new 41 km 2-lane Kutaisi bypass- Samtredia highway of 200 million GEL will be completed in 2020. It provides bilateral traffic safety and the traffic will be revealed in Kutaisi.

 

 ‘’In 2020, the active construction works will be carried out on all four lots. At present, the works at 2 lots are in progress. Also, the construction phase will be commenced on the Kvesheti-Kobi historical project where the contract is signed on both lots. The next year, the reconstruction of Dzirula-Kharagauli-Moliti-Pona-Chumateleti 28km road, the reconstruction of Dzedzileti-Gordi-Noga 10km section and the construction of the bridge crossings on the river Tskhenistskali and the river Mechia. By this way, the Municipalities of Khoni and Tskaltubo will reach each other at the shortest distance. Also the rehabilitation of 15km section of Bagdati-Vani-Daprani and the rehabilitation of 21km Khornabuji-Erisimedi road, where the asphalt pavement has never been used before.’’ - noted Irakli Karseladze.

Totally, the rehabilitation and periodic repair works of about 600 km road are planned in 2020. Also, within the scope of Local Self-Government Support Programs, the infrastructural projects totalling 150 million Gel are envisaged in Zugdidi, Kutaisi, Poti, Khobi, Ninotsminda, Lagodekhi and other cities.
