The modernization projects of the main E60, E70 and North-South (Jinvali-Larsi) highways of Georgia are in active progress in the current year. At present, the 200km road of the highway is constructed and the 140 km is under construction. The construction of the other sections of Rikoti, Kvesheti-Kobi and international highways will be in active phase in 2020. The works will be carried out at the 175km road with a total cost of 5 billion GEL. noted Irakli Karseladze, the First Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, Chairman of Roads Department at the committee hearing.

According to Karseladze, the works have started at Khevi-Ubisa and Ubisa-Shorapani sections of Rikoti pass this year. The contract on the first Lot was signed and the bid choosing-assessing procedures on the forth section are in progress. The contract is planned to be signed by the end of 2019.

 ‘’Moreover, different sections will be completed in 2020, covering 13 km of Khashuri bypass, 41km section of Kutaisi bypass, 14 km section of Samtredia-Grigoleti road’’- noted Irakli Karseladze.

More than 9000 people are employed in the ongoing projects of Roads Department and together with the development of the main projects, the number will be significantly increased, that is important for the employment of the local people as well as for upgrading the qualification.
