Irakli Karseladze – First Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, Chairman of Roads Department made a speech at the sitting of Regional Policy and Self - Government Committee.

 

Roads Department implemented the rehabilitation-periodic repair works for 640 km road during the 9 months, which is 3 times more than the previous year’s total indication.

 

This year, 313 contracts were signed at the total amount of the 725 million GEL while the economy received from tenders amounts to 66,5 million GEL. About 50 new companies were participating in the tenders announced by the Roads Department.

 

Within the next few months, Roads Department plans to commence the important rehabilitation projects, such as: 32 km section of Chiatura-Zestaponi road, 18,5 km separately damaged sections in the direction of Senaki-Zugdidi, 20km section in direction of Ozurgeti- Bjujhesi- Gomismta road, 12km section of Khidistavi-Ateni road, 12 km section of Rupoti-Alisubani-Sazano-Tuzi, 13km section in direction of Samtatskaro- Sabatolo road and ect.

 

Moreover, the number of ongoing and planned projects within the scope of the Local Self-Government support programs amount to 54 objects. Their total estimated cost is about 200 million GEL. Under the projects, the 220 km road will be rehabilitated and 5 bridges will be constructed, including the rehabilitation of 10 streets in Kutaisi and 9 streets in Zugdidi. Also, in about 20 different municipalities, the number of ongoing and planned objects amounts to 35 projects with the estimated rehabilitating road length of 190km. The total estimated value is 150 million GEL.

The regional projects such as rehabilitation of 25km section of Dzirula-Kharagauli-Chumateleti, 28km section of Tianeti-Akhmeta, 10km section of Dzedzileti-Gordi-Noga road, 21km section of Khornabuji-Erisimedi and the construction of 15km section of Bakurtsikhe- Gurjaani will be completed in 2020.
