One more important project – construction of Bakurtsikhe-Tsnori bypass road will be implemented in Kakheti region. Asian Development Bank will finance construction of a new road. Mr. Irakli Karseladze, First Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, Chairman of Roads Department of Georgia and Mr. Werner Liepach, ADB's Director General for Central and West Asia had site visit, wherein studied the existing condition of the road and talked about ongoing and forthcoming projects financed by ADB. 

The length of Bakurtsikhe-Tsnori bypass road is approximately 16 km. This section is a part of Tbilisi-Bakurtsikhe-Lagodekhi main road. Mentioned section passes through densely populated area and characterized by high intensity of transit movement that leads to frequent road accidents. In order to address existing problems, it is designed to build the road in the Alazani lowland, which will connect Tbilisi-Bakurtsikhe-Lagodekhi international road with existing local road bypassing the densely populated villages:  Bakurtsikhe, Kardanakhi, Anaga, Vakiri, Mashnaari, Sakobo and Tsnori.

Design works for construction of Bakurtsikhe-Tsnori road are at final stage and preparation of bidding documentation is ongoing.
