Modernization of Kutaisi bypass-Samtredia road into 4-lane highway entered into an active phase. At this stage laying of concrete pavement and arrangement of structures are in progress.
Construction of new additional two lanes will ensure one-way traffic on both directions. Project is implemented in compliance with standards applicable to highways and it will significantly improve road safety.
In contrast with other sections of the highway, construction of the referred road section is fully funded from the state budget. Total cost of the project is GEL 200, 26 MIO.
41,3 km long Kutaisi-Samtredia road is divided into 4 lots. Georgian company Black Sea Group is constructing 3 lots, while company Akkord (Azerbaijan) is implementing 1 lot. It should be noted that it is for the first time that Georgian Company carries out construction of the highway independently as the main contractor not as a subcontractor.
Construction of new 2-lanes of Kutaisi bypass-Samtredia section will be completed by the end of 2022 that will ensure traffic of international standards, even during high tourist season.
