Rehabilitation of Zugdidi City Streets Actively Progressing

Roads Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, under the order of the Georgian government is conducting rehabilitation works of secondary roads of Zugdidi city. 

Rehabilitation works are ongoing at 2.3km Tamar Mepe Street, worth GEL 5, 373, 373 and 2.5km Konstantine Gamsakhurdia Street, worth GEL 4,744, 444. Completion of the both above-mentioned roads are planned in December 2019.  The named streets are densely populated and represent the main artery of the transport network of Zugdidi city.

Irakli Karseladze, First Deputy Minister of Regional Development and infrastructure of Georgia, Chairman of Roads Department has inspected rehabilitation works on site.

During 2019, Roads Department will commence rehabilitation of several additional streets in Zugdidi: 1.5km Tabukashvili Street, 2km section of Janashia and Khelaia Streets, 1,5km Zviad Gamsakhurdia Street, 2km Lazi Street, 1.65km Chikobava Street, 1.25km Baramia Street and 0.5km Kobuleti Street.

In total, road infrastructure and drainage systems will be fully upgraded at nine streets of Zugdidi city. It will enable residents of Zugdidi city to move on renewed and comfortable roads within the city. Work completion on the mentioned roads is planned for the end of the current year.

In Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region, currently, rehabilitation works are ongoing at 15 sites with total cost of GEL 48.1 million. Additionally, in Zugdidi the Department develops one bank protection and three disaster prevention projects, worth GEL 3.4 million. Tender procedures are ongoing on 5 projects with total cost of GEL 27.6 million. During 2019, tenders will be announced and works will be commenced for 19 projects worth GEL 45.9 million.

This year, Roads Department has already completed 4 projects, worth GEL 17.5 million in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region.
