Local Population to be Employed on Khevi-Ubisa Construction

A meeting was held in the village Boriti, Kharagauli Municipality, in order to discuss employment of local population in construction of Khevi-Ubisa section of Rikoti pass.

Within the scope of the event, Deputy Chairmen of the Roads Department Levan Kupatashvili and Aleksandre Tevdoradze, Acting Governor of Imereti region Zviad Shalamberidze, Mayor of Kharagauli Municipality Nikoloz Topuridze, representatives of the construction company Hunan Road and Bridge Construction Group met local population.

Local residents had an opportunity to get acquainted with Khevi-Ubisa project and get aware of open vacancy jobs available at the first stage of construction. According to the construction company, an employer is currently looking for candidates for the following positions: earthwork personal, operators, metalworker, concrete and woodwork professionals, welders, electricians, geodesists, reinforcement workers, mechanical engineers, assistants and concrete factory operators.

Mobilization works and cleanup activities, site-cleaning works, topsoil removal, arrangement of camps and plants, preparation of design for replacement of communications and selection of disposal sites are currently underway at Khevi-Ubisa section.

The project envisages construction of four-lane road on Khevi-Ubisa 12.2 km section. Construction of 35 new bridges and 18 tunnels is planned on this section.

Asian Development Bank (ADB) funds the project worth GEL 732, 296, 478. The project completion is scheduled by 2022.

Roads Department will continue to organize meetings at other construction projects for the purpose of employment of local population.
