International bidding was announced for construction of Shorapani-Argveta road section (LOT 4). The first bidding announced for the mentioned section was canceled and today resubmission of bid proposals has been resumed.

Concerned companies can submit bid proposals until August 01, 04.00 p.m. (local time).  Construction of Shorapani-Argveta section is financed by Asian Development Bank (ADB).

Contract scope includes construction of 4-lane highway with cement-concrete pavement – total length 14.7 km. Design considers construction of 14 bridges and 12 tunnels.

It should be noted that construction of Lot 2 and Lot 3, Khevi-Ubisa and Ubisa-Shorapani sections have already been progressing at Rikoti pass section.

In total, construction of about 51.6 km road is planned on Rikoti pass, which includes 96 bridges and 53 tunnels. Modernization of Rikoti pass section is essential in terms of development of road network and bringing it in line with modern standards. Upgrading of Rikoti section will improve highway capacity and increase transit turnover, as well as raise traffic safety level and reduce travel time. Eventually, completion of Rikoti bypass section will result in reduction of travel distance on East-West highway by 30 km, but travel time between Red Bridge and Sarpi will be reduced by half. If today, covering the distance between Red Bridge and Sarpi takes 8 hours, in future it will need 4-4.5 hours.
