The representatives of inter-agency committee inspected the conditions on site at km56 of Pshaveli-Abano-Omalo road caused by landslide resulted in formation of the lake.

According to the First Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, Chairman of Roads Department, specialists examined the existing conditions on site and they will set the problem-solving approaches.

,, We inspected the existing condition on site, the situation at km 56 is improved and the water level is reduced. The committee also examined the causes of the disaster and the concrete measures will be set up immediately after returning to Tbilisi. As of today, the existing natural conditions allow the technology to be added for recovering the road at km 56, which will significantly accelerate the process’’-stated Irakli Karseladze

We would like to remind you, that besides km 56, snow cleaning works and restoration of sections damaged in winter are progressing on both sides of Pshaveli-Abano-Omalo road. Also two design teams are working to take a design solution on disaster-damaged sections. Design process lasts 3 weeks and the submission of design solutions will start from the next week. After this, the disaster prevention, bank protection and civil works will launch. By this time, totally 10 problematic sections are identified.

Inter-agency committee is comprised of the representatives of Roads Department of Georgia, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture, and Design Organizations.
