The modernization of Kutaisi Bypass Road as 4-line highway has begun. At this stage, the process of groundworks, the removal of topsoil, embankment, treatment of cuts, arrangement of culverts and underpasses are in progress.

The construction works have been inspected by the Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure- Maya Tskitishvili, the first Deputy Minister,Chairman of the Roads Department – Irakli Karseladze and the representatives of the department.

,, Construction works are actively progressing and we hope that the project will be completed in determined terms or maybe even earlier. By the construction of the new 2-line, the traffic at Kutaisi-Samtredia bypass will become one-way in the both direction. The project will be constructed in protection with the highway standards and it will improve significantly the road safety.’’ –Maya Tskitishvili mentioned

Differ from other highway sections, the construction of the additional 2 new-line road section of Kutaisi-Samtredia bypass is financed from the State Budget. The total cost of the project is more than 200,000,000 GEL.

Kutaisi-Samtredia 41.3km road is divided into 4 lots. Georgian company Black Sea Group won the construction works for the three lot, while the fourth one was won by Akkord. This is the first time when the Georgian company provides the construction of the highway independently without the subcontractor.

,,The structures are being arranged intensively. Logistic, mobilization and other technological aspects are fully provided, which give us the hope that the working process will be developed rapidly. It’s important that this project will provide reducing the road accidents, increasing the traffic speed and decreasing the travelling expenses.’’- Irakli Karseladze mentioned.

Construction of two-line new road section of Kutaisi bypass will be completed by the end of 2020.
