Crushing works of large rocks that collapsed at km25 of Pshaveli-Abano-Omalo road are completed.  Removal of collapsed mass is currently ongoing and will be accomplished until the end of the day. 

Due to severe meteorological conditions, in particular, surplus sediment, this year, cleaning works at Pshaveli-Abano-Omalo road started on April 15. Large rocks were collapsed on km22 and km25 of the mentioned road. Meanwhile snow still lay upon the ground at km56 of the mentioned road. Above-mentioned conditions were not observed previously, which caused temporary delay of works.  

Currently, cleaning works are actively ongoing and traffic movement to Tusheti will be resumed for the end of May.

At present, the contractor organization is conducting works on the mentioned section within the framework of the current Agreement. The winner identified at tender is invited for contract award on May 7, after which a new company will continue cleaning works.

Severe climate and terrain conditions make it impossible to conduct cleaning works during wintertime. Accordingly, restrictions are imposed on traffic during winter. Movement during other seasons is permissible only for off-road vehicles.

Pshaveli-Abano-Omalo road is one of the most difficult transport routes in Europe.
