Rehabilitation of Tamar Mephe Street in Zugdidi Ongoing

Rehabilitation works of 2,3km Tamar Mephe Street of Zugdidi city has commenced. Tamar Mephe Street starts from Rustaveli Street and connects to D. Janashia Street. Rehabilitating street is densely populated and represents the main artery of the transport network of Zugdidi city.

Existed asphalt-concrete pavement was severely damaged and caused traffic delay on the mentioned road. Dust and noise at the damaged road was causing inconvenience not only to drivers but also to local residents.

In order to crack an existed problem the project envisages complete rehabilitation of the street. In particular, asphalt-concrete pavement will be constructed on the carriageway, drainage network will be upgraded, junctions, local entrances, entrances to residents’ yards, curbs, grassplots and sidewalks will be arranged. Traffic signs will be installed and the carriageway will be marked within the project.   

Arrangement of roadbed is currently ongoing at Tamar Mephe Street.

Black See Group conducts the rehabilitation works, under the order of Roads Department. The project, worth GEL 5 373 372, is funded from the state budget. The project was commenced in April 2019 and will be completed in November 2019.

During 2019, Roads Department is rehabilitating 9 streets in the city of Zugdidi. Within the projects road infrastructure and drainage systems will be fully upgraded. It will allow residents of Zugdidi city to move on renovated and comfortable roads within the city.
