Rehabilitation of 14.6km (km98-km112) Akhaltsikhe-Ninotsminda (border of Armenia) international road is ongoing. Rehabilitating section passes through the villages Gorelovka and Zhdanovi and ends at Georgia-Armenia border.

Samtskhe-Javakheti region is characterized with harsh weather conditions (snowfall, snowdrift, severe frost). Consequently, due to work specifications, the company had to stop its activities. The instant weather conditions improved, the Company had restored works and will actively carry on. Project completion is planned in October 2019. 

The project envisages complete rehabilitation of the damaged road. The width of the existed road will be expanded and three reinforced-concrete bridges and culverts will be rehabilitated. Access roads to populations’ yards and junctions to roads will be arranged. In addition, the roads will be equipped with traffic signs, barriers will be installed and the carriageway will be marked.  

The project, worth GEL 13, 808, 673 is funded from the state budget. Rehabilitation works started in July 2018. At this stage, roadbed of 2km road is arranged and 2km section is paved with asphalt-concrete. Earth works are currently ongoing at rehabilitating section.

This year, design will be prepared for rehabilitation works of the damaged 5km section (km91-km97) of Akhaltsikhe-Ninotsminda (border of Armenia) international road and activities will start in summer.

Completion of rehabilitation of both sections will provide safe and comfortable movement from Akhaltsikhe to Armenian border.

Currently, there are ten ongoing projects in Samtskhe-Javakheti region. Under them, in total, 41.1km road and 4 bridges will be constructed-rehabilitated. The cost of the mentioned projects amounts to GEL 32, 852, 300.

Commencement of seven projects is planned in Samtskhe-Javakheti region during 2019. Total length of the projects is 37.3km, with approximate budget GEL 36, 297, 000. Out of them, five projects will be completed in 2019 and two projects – in 2020. In addition, two preventive projects, worth GEL 1, 492, 800, one bank protection project, worth GEL 500, 000 and periodic maintenance works for five different objects, with approximate length 50km and estimated cost GEL 13, 500, 000 are planned in Samtskhe-Javakheti region.
