Roads Department Shared Best Practice with Kakheti Municipalities

Employees of Roads Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia shared best practice of activities with the representatives of Kakheti municipalities. Deputy chairs of the Department, as well as the representatives of Kakheti governorate and municipalities attended the meeting. 

Heads of the relevant structural units of Roads Department shared best practice with the representatives of municipalities in the following directions: planning, preparation of terms of reference, procurement, legal techniques (signing an agreement), resettlement (admission commission, setting land plot identity), communication with citizens and the Roads Department, environmental public monitoring, public meetings and public involvement in the preparation of environmental report, grievance acceptance mechanism, road safety, terms of reference for bank protection, quality control, monitoring and execution of road works.

At the end of the meeting, the participants had an opportunity to get irrefragable answer to all the questions of their interest. The event will last for two days. Similar meetings were hold with the representatives of municipalities of Shida Kartli and Samtskhe-Javakheti regions. The next stage of such a meeting will be held in West Georgia.

The goal of the meetings is to train all municipalities at procurement, implementation and monitoring of infrastructural works that in the future will positively affect the implementation of infrastructural projects, mutual cooperation and the future development of public sector activities.

The event was implemented with the support of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) within the framework of the "Development of Local Self-Governance in the South Caucasus" program.
