According to Roads Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, cleaning works from snow and avalanche at Zhinvali-Barisakho-Shatili secondary road are intensively ongoing. Over 70km of the road is already cleaned. The works are currently underway on the pass. The mentioned road represents the central access to Shatili.

Five units of machinery are working at place every day. Total length of Zhinvali-Barisakho-Shatili road amounts to 106km. 

Due to heavy snow, annually, Zhinvali-Barisakho-Shatili road closes from October- November and opens after improvement of meteorological conditions.
