Roads Department introduced planned tenders to construction companies

Irakli Karseladze, First Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, Chairman of Roads Department and representatives of the Department provided information beforehand about the tenders to be announced to construction companies.  

The goal of this initiative of the Ministry is to ensure more transparent and effective bidding procedures, enable interested companies to receive information on projects before announcement of biddings in order to get prepared and ensure open and equal conditions in a competitive environment.

Tenders planned in the direction of rehabilitation, road safety, road maintenance and disaster prevention were discussed during the meeting. Roads Department shall announce 52 tenders with total value of GEL 485 mln  in February-March of the current year.  

It should be noted that above-referred tenders include World Bank financed pilot project, which has already been successfully realized in Kakheti region and would start in Guria within this year. Rehabilitation works shall be implemented on about 70 km of road and routine maintenance on about 240 km of road under Output-and-Performance-based Contract and roads maintenance 5 year rolling program (PBC).  

Independent budget is allocated for the first time in 2019 for road safety works, 9 million Gel would be spent for improvement of traffic safety of road network throughout Georgia, thus enable to drive more safety and comfortably all over the country.  

Similar information exchange meetings with construction companies have been actively continued within the last period under the scope of a new initiative.  Contractor organizations and stakeholders receive information in advance about all major tenders, innovations or planned changes.
