A contract was signed with the winning company of the international bidding announced for construction of Grigoleti-Kobuleti bypass road of E-70 highway. The 14-km section of Grigoleti-Kobuleti bypass road will be constructed by JV Polatyol & Mapa

The Contract was signed by First Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, Chairman of Roads Department Irakli Karseladze and Executive Director of Polatyol & Mapa Emre Polat.

Construction of Grigoleti-Kobuleti bypass road is financed by the European Investment Bank. The construction project envisages construction of 4-lane asphalt concrete road, 22 bridge crossings, 4 interchanges, culverts and underpasses.

Through the constituent part of E-70 East-West Highway – Grigoleti-Kobuleti bypass road, Samtredia-Grigoleti road will be connected to Kobuleti bypass road and a traffic flow from Grigoleti towards Kobuleti will pass through the highway.

This project will bring together ongoing and completed projects in the Black Sea resort area and by 2020, in sum, up to 110 km new road from Samtredia to Chorokhi will give us possibility to travel through the highway bypassing resort areas. This is very important for the country and the region in terms of transit transportation as well as tourism development and improvement of ecological conditions in the tourist zone.

Construction of a new road will fully ensure capacity of increasing traffic flows, travel with safe vehicles and uninterrupted transit traffic on the high intensity international road.

The project implementation period is 24 months from commencement of works and the cost is 228 million GEL.
