First Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, Chairman of Roads Department Irakli Karseladze, Governor of Mtskheta-Mtianeti Shalva Kereselidze and representatives of local self-government inspected rehabilitation works ongoing on a km6-km15 section of Zhinvali-Barisakho-Shatili road.

Zhinvali-Barisakho-Shatili section has not been rehabilitated for 40 years from now, and the road was strongly damaged, thus hindering traffic. During this period, the road pavement is updated for the first time. Within the project, the following will be carried out: full rehabilitation of 10-km road; arrangement works of artificial structures, junctions with local roads, road furniture and improvement; one bridge will be rehabilitated; also, arrangement works of road signs and road horizontal marking will be carried out. It is noteworthy, that road design/building will be implemented in parallel mode.

At this stage, arrangement works of reflective posts, concrete ditches and shoulders are ongoing on rehabilitation section. In addition, arrangement of metal grids against rock fall is being carried out.

Works are financed by the World Bank and the contract cost is 8 562 700 GEL. Forty people are employed in the works. The project will be completed on November 15.
