Vice Prime Minister of Georgia and Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Mrs. Maya Tskitishvili and First Deputy Minister and Chairman of Roads Department Mr. Irakli Karseladze provided construction companies with information on biddings to be announced for planned projects in advance.

Within new initiative of the Ministry, these kinds of information meetings with construction companies are actively implementing during the recent period. Contractor organizations and interested groups are receiving information about all the important biddings, innovations or planned changes in advance.

The goal of this initiative of the Ministry is to ensure more transparent and effective bidding procedures, to increase possibilities for interested companies to receive information on projects before announcement of biddings in order to prepare accordingly as well as to ensure open and equal conditions in a competitive environment.

At the meeting, it was mentioned that Roads Department plans to announce 26 biddings until October 15, in the direction of road infrastructure rehabilitation. The total cost of biddings exceeds 185 million GEL.

Roads, which are important for tourists and local population, will be rehabilitated as well as such sections, which have never been covered by asphalt pavement. Namely, access roads to Khvamli historical mountain and Okatse Canyon - Gordi-Dzedzileti connecting roads will be rehabilitated. In addition, 55-km Barisakho-Shatili connecting road and two Lots of Sachkhere-Oni connecting road with a common length of 12.5 km will be rehabilitated. In this direction, arrangement of road infrastructure will ensure comfortable movement for local population and tourists and development of regions. Mountainous road projects, together with development of tourist potential, will promote return of population in mountainous regions and development of small businesses in these areas.
