Due to intense rainfall, traffic is restricted on several road sections

From August 9, due to difficult meteorological conditions in several regions of Georgia, traffic for vehicles was delayed on some sections, traffic toward Tusheti and Kazbegi was closed for several hours.

From the moment of disaster, representatives of Roads Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia are mobilized and are working in 24-hour mode on all critical locations.

At this stage, due to heavy rainfall, traffic is restricted on Makhinjauri section of Senaki-Poti-Sarpi road, where works are currently ongoing.

Collapsed mass is on Khashuri-Akhaltsikhe-Vale road and cleaning works are underway

Due to heavy rainfall at km 5, km 7 and km 15 of Senaki-Nokalakevi-Bandza-Khoni road, a water stream was flooded on the carriageway, works are ongoing to solve problems.

Due to collapsed mountainous mass caused by heavy rainfall, the road was closed at km 3 of Saglolo-Chiora-Gebi secondary road for 2 hours. For now, traffic is free. 

Small collapsed mass was on the bypass road of Rikoti tunnel. The road is closed and traffic is free.

Moreover, small collapsed mass is on Borjomi-Bakuriani section, where cleaning works are underway.

Regarding Kazbegi and Tusheti directions, traffic is resumed for vehicles. Traffic on Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Larsi road is allowed for all types of vehicles, while movement of Pshaveli-Abano-Omalo road is only allowed for off-road vehicles, traffic is forbidden for other types of vehicles. Traffic is free for vehicles on a km1-11 section of this road.

The Ministry of Infrastructure and Roads Department advises citizens to avoid movement on above mentioned sections except urgent need, in order to avoid traffic jams and ensure safe traffic.
