Deputy Chairman of Roads Department of Georgia Giorgi Tsereteli met with representatives of nongovernmental organizations interested in safety issues.

At the meeting, a conclusion about Vaziani-Gombori-Telavi road examined and prepared by the Transport and Roads Association of Georgia was reviewed. Main part was dedicated to planning of routine maintenance works, which envisages: to ensure sustainable, smooth, safe and comfortable traffic during the whole year, considering imposed traffic mode and intensity as well as keeping roads and road structures appropriately.

Giorgi Tesereteli introduced arrangements planned by the Department in terms of road safety to the representatives of non-governmental organizations. At the meeting, additional planned arrangements were also reviewed to improve traffic safety on Vaziani-Gombori-Telavi Road, which included improving of curve element, restoration of damaged pavement, arrangement of drainage and culverts.

These measures will ensure improvement of existing operational parameters, including traffic safety.

Roads Department of Georgia carries out routine maintenance works on international and secondary road network, which is divided into 22 zones. The goal of these works is to ensure safe and comfortable movement.

Participants of the workshop discussed the issues of road traffic safety management at the local level and agreed on close cooperation in the future.
