Irakli Karseladze inspected works ongoing in Zemo Svaneti

First Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia and Chairman of Roads Department Irakli Karseladze inspected infrastructure projects ongoing in Zemo Svaneti region.

 “For now, 9 projects in the direction of improvement of road infrastructure, rehabilitation and prevention of natural disasters with a common worth of 44 million GEL are ongoing in Zemo Svaneti. Out of which, 8 projects will be completed by the end of this year. A new road project connecting Lentekhi and Mestia with each other should also be noted, we are working on that now and waiting for technical solution” – declared Irakli Karseladze.

Construction of Lentekhi-Mestia 35 km road and rehabilitation of Leshguani-Mestia 11 km section is planned within the development of road infrastructure of mountains. The road, construction of which is divided into 4 parts, will be started in Lentekhi passing through Laskadula gorge, mountainous array with 9 km tunnel and will be connected to Zugdidi-Mestia road, at Leshguani village, passing through Lailachi gorge.

This road will be the shortest possible path between Zemo Svaneti and Kvemo Svaneti. After completion of the project, travel time in Le4ntekhi-Mestia direction will be reduced by almost 1.5 hours.

At this stage, review of the project is underway.
