A contract has been signed between Roads Department and the company which won the supervision bidding of Dzirula-Kharagauli-Moliti-Pona-Chumateleti road. The contract was signed by Deputy Chairman of Roads Department Aleksandre Tevdoradze and a representative of JV Pyunghwa Engineering Consultants Ltd, Yooshin Engineering Corporation, Roads Rehabilitation and Modernization Supervision Direction Ltd Kyun Chul Shin.

Mainly, rehabilitation of 50 km road of Dzirula-Kharagauli-Moliti-Pona-Chumateleti will be carried out within the existing road. Works include: arrangement of asphalt pavement, rehabilitation-reconstruction of bridges, road culverts, ditches, construction of support walls, road marking and arrangement of safety barriers.

This road section connects the Kharagauli municipality to E-60 highway. The project goes along the river Chkherimela and Khashuri-Kharagauli-Zestaponi railway line. Local residents have suffered from movement problems on this road for years. After rehabilitation of the road, up to 23 000 people living in Kharagauli municipality and up to 7 000 people living in 13 villages, movement conditions will be improved.

Rehabilitation is financed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The cost of supervision service contract is USD 3,207,700.20 and GEL 5,770,524.50, and the period for construction works is 2018-2021.
