Today, the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia introduced major projects of international significance to the diplomatic corps, business associations and donor organizations at Rooms Hotel Tbilisi.

First Deputy Minister and Chairman of Roads Department Irakli Karseladze discussed large-scale infrastructure projects in detail.

Biddings on construction works of Rikoti Pass and Kvesheti-Kobi sections will be announced in the near future. These roads pass through the mountainous relief and include several bridges and tunnels of complex constructions. According to Irakli Karseladze, these are projects of unprecedented scale and, therefore, it is highly important that qualified companies with relevant resources perform mentioned projects.

Construction of 51.6 km road has been planned on the Rikoti pass, which includes 96 bridges and 53 tunnels, 22.7 km road with 2-lane asphalt concrete pavement will be constructed on Kvesheti-Kobi section, 6 bridges and 5 tunnels, including a tunnel with a length of 9 km. In sum, $ 2 billion will be spent on these construction projects.

In addition to road projects, Director of United Water Supply Company of Georgia Eka Galdava discussed construction projects of water supply and sewage systems in Kutaisi and Marneuli.

According to Irakli Karseladze, a main goal of the event is to provide with information on major construction projects planned in Georgia by the diplomatic corps to all experienced companies, which will increase competition in biddings as well as probability of winning of qualified and high-level construction companies, this is necessary to get the best results.

“We hope that you will help us to connect with experienced companies of your country and provide them with information on these projects. We plan works of unprecedented scale in the coming years and it is of vital importance for us to cooperate with proper, qualified and responsible partners in this process” – mentioned Irakli Karseladze.
