Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia Maia Tskitishvili, First Deputy Minister and Chairman of Roads Department Irakli Karseladze, Deputy Minister Ilia Begiashvili, Chairman of State Procurement Agency Levan Razmadze and representatives of Roads Department conducted ‘Doors Open Day’ for contractor organizations with regard to road projects and changes to be taken in bidding conditions.

During the event, representatives of the Department introduced 17 projects with a worth of GEL 83 835 500 (financed by the state budget) to contractors before bidding announcements. Biddings on these projects will be announced by the end of May. Companies had the opportunity to receive detailed information about projects and bidding conditions in advance.

In addition, contractor organizations received information on changes to be carried out in bidding conditions of the projects financed by the state budget. Changes will be about minimization of barriers, recommendations of the Dispute Board, technical and qualification requirements.

 “Such initiatives and innovations are aimed at achieving greater transparency and competitiveness. We consider our previous experience in order to improve environment and make it more flexible, and most importantly, to ensure availability of procurement process for all interested companies” – Maia Tskitishvili mentioned at the meeting.

Roads Department’s goal is to become more transparent and effective bidding procedures and to give interested companies the opportunity to get familiar with the projects before bidding announcements. This will help them to get better prepared and the environment will become more competitive. Open, transparent and equal conditions will be ensured for all organizations.

 “We started a long-term process regarding information disclosure to society in order to ensure healthy competition conditions for all honest companies to participate in biddings” – Irakli Karseladze said.

Similar meetings will be continued intensively, contractor organizations and interested groups will be informed in advance with regard to all innovations and planned changes.
