Construction works of the 5.6 km section of Stepantsminda-Trinity Church access road are actively ongoing in Kazbegi municipality.

Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia Zurab Alavidze inspected ongoing works on-site.

Within the project, the following will be carried out: arrangement works of cement concrete pavement, culverts, retaining walls, bus stops and road improvement. Besides, road signs will be arranged and horizontal marking will be carried out on the road.

At this stage, arrangement works of embankment are ongoing.

After completion of the project, tourists, local residents and pilgrims will be able to use an upgraded and comfortable road instead of a damaged ground road.

The Gergeti Holy Trinity Cathedral is a monument of XIV century, which is very interesting for tourists. Construction of the mentioned road will significantly promote the development of tourist potential in Kazbegi.

Works started in May 2017 and will be completed in November 2018. The project is financed by the state budget and its cost is GEL 7 793 854. About 50 people were employed within the project.
