Roads Department carried out bank protection works at 6 different locations at the river Enguri in Zugdidi municipality. Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Zurab Alavidze together with Deputy Governor of Samegrelo Davit Kodua and local residents inspected completed works on the spot.

During heavy rainfalls, the river Enguri was a constant threat to the population. The flooded river was damaging the plots of the local population, and on some sections Enguri flooded the cornfield areas.

To solve the problem completely, a bank protection structure was arranged on Shamgona, Koki and Orsantia sections of the river Enguri. Works are at the completion stage in Tkaia administrative unit.

Works were financed by the state budget and the total cost is 1 975 200 GEL. A total of 85 people were employed in the bank protection works.
