Rehabilitation of 16 km road, connecting Shua Khorga with Kulevi, is ongoing in Khobi

Rehabilitation of 16 km road connecting the village of Shua Khorga with Kulevi is ongoing in Khobi municipality. Minister of Infrastructure Zurab Alavidze together with the representatives of local self-government inspected the works ongoing by the order of Roads Department.

A section to be rehabilitated starts at the village of Shua Khorga and ends at the village of Kulevi – at the entrance to the oil-terminal. Capital repair of this section has not been implemented for more than two decades. The road was highly damaged and full of potholes, and it could not ensure safe and comfortable movement of vehicles.

The road passes through the villages of Kariata and Kulevi, goes along the left bank of the river Khobistskali and ends at the entrance Black Sea Terminal existing in Kulevi.

The project envisages: arrangement of asphalt concrete two layer pavement, restoration of artificial structures and entrances to private yards; installation of metal pipes, junctions with local roads, road signs, also, carriageway marking and encircling.

At this stage, the arrangement works of entrances to private yards and junctions are ongoing. A lower layer of asphalt concrete and works related to it are completed.

The road is important for local residents as well as vehicles moving in the direction of Black Sea Terminal.

The project is financed by the state budget and its cost is 7 688 800 GEL.

Rehabilitation works started in June 2017 and will be completed in August 2018. A total of 130 people are employed within the project.
