An event dedicated to Road Builders’ Day was conducted in Radisson Blue Iveria Hotel, organized by the Roads Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia and Road Builders Association of Georgia. This year, the tradition of celebrating Road Builders’ Day became 50 years old.

Speakers of the conference conducted within the event, discussed tradition of Road Builders’ Day, achievements and problems of the road sector.

The event was attended by: Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Zurab Alavidze, Chairman of Roads Department of Georgia George Seturidze, Deputy Chairmen of Roads Department, Chairman of Road Builders Association of Georgia Tamaz Shalikadze, representatives of road sector and other invited guests.

Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Zurab Alavidze made a speech at the event, Minister congratulated a professional day to road builders and discussed future challenges. Zurab Alavidze focused attention on necessity of performance of four-point plan of the Government of Georgia, an important part of which was about the development of road infrastructure.

Chairman of Roads Department George Seturidze conducted a presentation about the results of 2017 and plans for the next year of the Roads Department.

The tradition of celebrating Road Builders’ Day was founded by George Robitashvili   50 years ago.  (George Robitashvili has headed road sector in 1939-1984, during 47 years). The concluding meetings, along with the representatives of regions, have become tradition since 1967, and since the 80s it officially has become a professional day.
