Construction of a new bridge crossing on the river Kvirila is actively ongoing

Roads Department carries out construction works of a new bridge crossing on the river Kvirila at km 3 of Zestaponi-Bagdati secondary road.

Rehabilitation of 31 bridges and construction of 16 new bridges is planned throughout Georgia by the end of this year. In 2017, 11 bridge crossings were rehabilitated in Imereti region, according to existing data, rehabilitation works of 8 bridges is already completed.

The section to be rehabilitated is located in Western Georgia, in the village of Sviri of Zestaponi municipality. Existing bridge crossing did not ensure functioning of two lanes, piers were scoured away and deviated, and also, its operational functions had been lost.

 Within the project, a new bridge crossing with a length of 172.5 m and 5 spans will be constructed. T-shaped, reinforced concrete built pipe beams, waterproofing layer and asphalt concrete pavement will be arranged. Besides, works of reinforced concrete reflectors, metal railings, marking and regulatory walls will be carried out.

At present, the arrangement works of pile drilling and regulatory walls are underway. Design-building is underway in parallel mode.

The project is financed by the state budget and its cost is GEL 6 000 000. Works started in March 2017 and will be completed in the spring of 2018. At this stage 25 people are employed.
