15 km section of Zestaponi-Kutaisi bypass road was opened

Prime Minister George Kvirikashvili together with Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Zurab Alavidze opened a 15 km section of Zestaponi-Kutaisi bypass road under the highway. Mentioned road section has been completely put into operation from today.

The event was attended by a representative of the donor organization, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan Motome Takisava and the representatives of local government.

Within the construction project of Zestaponi-Kutaisi bypass road, high-speed road with cement concrete pavement, 9 parallel bridges, two interchanges, and four pedestrian bridges, underpasses and reinforced concrete culverts were constructed on a 15.2 km section of road.

After the completion of construction of Zestaponi-Kutaisi section, a 56.5 km section of Zestaponi-Kutaisi-Samtredia road has been completely put into operation.

The construction of mentioned section will increase road safety for vehicles on E60 highway, reduce transit expenses and promote an increase of transit traffic.

The cost of works amounts to GEL 71 million and EUR 22 million. Construction works have been carried out with the financial support of the Japan International Cooperation Agency. A total of 360 people were employed in the works.
