Traffic in the direction of Tusheti is restored

According to Roads Department of Georgia, road is fully cleaned from landslide mass crushed at 56 km of Pshaveli-Abano-Omalo road, traffic is restored and it will be enforced according to special mode.  

Due to 24 hours intense working mode of the staff of Roads Department and the representatives of the company “Gerali”, 600 m road section connecting to Tusheti is completely free. Movement of vehicles will be regulated by the implementing agency for works.

At present, additional road cleaning works are being implemented by climbers and using heavy equipment to fully arrange existing road, lower the level of water, lower the level of embankment slope and clean the slopes from rocky masses.

As you know, around 300 000 cubic meters of rock mass were crushed during the winter period at km 56 of Pshaveli-Abano-Omalo road, which covered road carriageway about 10 meters high and locked the flow of river Alazani. Then, the second crush of about 200 000 cubic meters of rock mass was reported in April, which significantly worsened existing situation.
