Roads Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia starts working on construction design of the 55 km section of Tbilisi new bypass road and 28 km section of Natakhtari-Zhinvali section.

The project envisages construction of a completely new, alternative highway from Natakhtari to Rustavi and from Natakhtari to Zhinvali.

The Contract for preparation of design documentation was signed by Deputy Chairman of Roads Department Aleksandre Tevdoradze and a representative of an Italian company (Joint Venture) ANAS International Enterprise S.p.A. & Gestione Progetti Ingegneria srl. & IRD Engineering srl. Laurent Francois.

The company ANAS International Enterprise S.p.A. & Gestione Progetti Ingegneria srl. & IRD Engineering srl. will prepare Feasibility Study and Detailed Design of the section. The contract cost of design works amounts to EUR 6 049 671.20 and GEL 6 891 609.46. Design period is 2017-2018 and will be completed within 15 months after signing the Contract.

As a result of construction of Tbilisi new bypass road, current problems existing on Tbilisi bypass road caused by landslide processes will be completely solved, urban streets of Tbilisi will be relieved, ecological conditions and road safety will be significantly improved.

New road will relieve the city from transit traffic and, therefore, it is important for transit transportation as well as Tbilisi residents.

Mentioned roads are the part of spatial development of the country – one of the directions considered in 4-point plan.
