Roads Department of Georgia is carrying out the rehabilitation of 5 km section of Gori-Variani-Tskhinvali road.

The project envisages the full rehabilitation of pavement on 5 km road section (km 21-km25), repair of artificial structures: 1 bridge and culverts. Moreover, junctions with local roads, entrances to private yards, bus stops and enclosed bus stops will be arranged. Carriageway will be marked and road signs will be installed there. 

Gori-Variani-Tskhinvali road was damaged, once existing asphalt surface was only fragmentarily preserved, and the road was gravel for the most part. Movement on mentioned section was complicated due to damaged road.

As a result of the project, road users of Gori-Variani-Tskhinvali road and, especially, local residents will be able to move using the upgraded, comfortable and much safer road. Travel time and costs will be reduced.

Rehabilitation works has been financed by the state budget and the cost is GEL 2 200 000. Works started in December 2016 and will be completed in October this year.
