Construction of Agara-Zemo Osiauri will be completed in June

Construction of 12 km section of Agara-Zemo Osiauri, which is the component part of E60 highway, will be completed in June. Traffic on 7 km section was open in June 2016, construction works are actively ongoing on remaining 5 km section.

Mentioned section is a part of spatial development of the country, one of the directions considered in four-point plan initiated by Prime Minister George Kvirikashvili.

The project envisages: construction of 12 km and four-lane road with cement concrete pavement, 8 bridges, including 2 interchanges (with viaduct), culverts and underpasses.

At the moment, arrangement works of river bank protection structures along a 3.3 km section located at the river Mtkvari (Kura) are underway. Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia Zurab Alavidze has inspected ongoing works.

Construction works are being carried out by a Georgian company “Black Sea Group” and Kuwait company “Copri Construction Enterprises W.L.L“. The project is financed by the World Bank and its cost is GEL 105, 7 million. Works will be completed in June 2017.

After putting Agara-Zemo Osiauri section into operation, highway capacity will be increased, safe movement of vehicles will be improved and travel time will be reduced. A total of 500 people are employed in the works.
