Rehabilitation of Khulo-Zarzma section will be started

Rehabilitation of Khulo-Zarzma (Lot I) section of Batumi (Anagisa)-Akhaltsikhe secondary road will be started in 2017.

Today, technical and financial proposals for provision of supervision service for rehabilitation works of Khulo-Zarzma section were submitted to the Roads Department by five shortlisted consultative companies. Technical proposals were opened today and, after evaluation of them, financial proposals of companies which overcome the minimum threshold established by the bidding will be opened.

Khulo-Zarzma section is the part of spatial development of the country – one of the directions considered in four-point Governmental reform plan initiated by Prime Minister George Kvirikashvili. Within the framework of spatial development, transportation network, connecting regions with each other, will be designed and arranged throughout Georgia.

The total length of Khulo-Zarzma section of Batumi (Anagisa) - Akhaltsikhe road is 47 km, while 29 km section of road (km0-km29) will be constructed in the first stage. Construction of the first stage is financed by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED).

After implementation of the project, travel time in this direction is expected to reduce by 1.5 hours.
