Under the Fourth East West Highway Improvement Project, Roads Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia opened financial proposals for the preparation of Feasibility Study and Detailed Design documentation for the construction of new roads in Kakheti.

Mentioned roads represent the part of spatial development of the country, which is one of the directions of 4-point reform plan, initiated by Prime Minister George Kvirikashvili.

Within the framework of spatial arrangement, existing roads, highway and transit corridors passing through Georgia will be in compliance with modern standards, new roads will be constructed and a unified road frame will be created, thus necessary primary infrastructure will be equally accessible to all regions.

At this stage, within the sections of spatial arrangement, the document of Feasibility Study for Tbilisi-Bakurtsikhe and Tsnori-Lagodekhi roads and the document of Detailed Design for Tbilisi-Sagarejo and Sagarejo-Bakurtsikhe roads shall be prepared. In order to prepare mentioned documents, financial proposals of only three companies were opened.

A total 80km of road towards Tbilisi-Sagarejo-Bakurtsikhe and 40 km of road towards Tsnori-Lagodekhi will be constructed. Design works are financed by the World Bank.
