Greening campaign was held adjacent to Mtskheta-Shiomgvime road

Deputy Chairman of Roads Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia Maia Kaliashvili and representatives of Roads Department participated in planting campaign of red listed plants adjacent to rehabilitated road of Mtskheta-Shiomgvime.

Greening campaign started in October this year and will be completed by the end of this year. Tree planting is being implemented by the company Telani and its cost amounts to GEL 63 940.

Within the framework of rehabilitation of Mtskheta-Shiomgvime road, for each tree, removed from the natural environment, 10 saplings will be planted. Under the project, planting of 2030 red listed saplings is planned, including 1050 Juniperus foetidissima Willd plants, 40 Ulmus minor Mill plants and 940 Cerasus C.A. Myer plants. In addition, the company takes responsibility to maintain and grow these planted trees over the next 2 years.

According to the policy of Roads Department, greening campaign is being implemented by the assistance of the World Bank under the SLRPII project (Second Secondary and Local Roads Project).

At present, the greening campaign also takes place adjacent to Mlashe-Mokhe-Dertseli road.
