Bidding for the design of Tbilisi new bypass road and Natakhtari-Zhinvali section is announced

Roads Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia starts working on the construction project of the 55 km of Tbilisi new bypass road and 28 km of Natakhtari-Zhinvali section.

The project envisages the construction of an entirely new alternative expressway from Natakhtari to Rustavi and from Natakhtari to Zhinvali.

Bidding for the preparation of the feasibility study and detailed design has been already announced and bid proposals were submitted by six companies from the short list. Design works are financed by the Asian Development Bank. Design period covers 2017 and 2018 years.   

Current problems on the Tbilisi bypass road, which are caused by landslide processes, will be solved completely due to the construction of Tbilisi new bypass road.

The new road will relieve the city from transit traffic and is important for transit transporters as well as residents of Tbilisi.

The mentioned roads represent the part of spatial development of the country, which is one of the directions considered in four-point Governmental reform plan initiated by Prime Minister George Kvirikashvili.
